Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has given his thoughts on how this evening’s Championship match between Leeds United and Aston Villa will turn out.
Elland Road is the host of the contest, which could play a big role in both club’s promotion hopes.
Villa head into the fixture in better form having won their last three matches, which has left the club fourth in the table, five points adrift of the top two.
As for Leeds, they have overcome a difficult spell of eight defeats in 11 league matches by defeating Barnsley 2-0 away last weekend.
In the table, Thomas Christiansen’s team are eighth in the standings and are just three points behind the playoff places.
In the last five meetings between the two clubs, Leeds have come out on top twice, while Villa have won once and the other two fixtures have ended in draws.
Last season at Elland Road, the Whites earned a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Chris Wood.
Prutton believes that nothing will be able to separate the two clubs and has predicted a 1-1 draw.
The former midfielder told Sky Sports:
“Now this is a big game to start the weekend, under the lights at Elland Road. Leeds seem to have turned a corner again lately, despite that loss at Wolves, and could really do with another victory here to put the pressure on those above them, including Aston Villa.
“Steve Bruce’s side are up near where they should be now, and will have their sights set on jumping above Sheffield United and, sooner or later, Cardiff. I think he’d settle for a draw here, though.”
