After a disastrous summer of business a year ago West Ham looked to amend their mistakes in the January window by targeting Premier League experience with moves for both Robert Snodgrass and Jose Fonte.
Both were deals that, on paper, ticked all the boxes to fix an inconsistent Hammers side but in reality never really took off.
Having been at the heart of everything going forward for Hull City in the first half of last season – Snodgrass finished the 2016/17 campaign as the Tigers’ top scorer despite leaving in January – the Scottish international failed to find his groove in east London and was largely ineffectual going forward, picking up just two assists for Slaven Bilic’s side in 15 Premier League outings.
With that in mind, the former Norwich man has been linked with a move away from London Stadium after just six months, and odds on a move to relegated Sunderland have been cut to just 6/1.
Despite only recently joining the club it could prove a fairly popular move amongst the claret and blue support, who hold a slight disdain towards the 29-year-old due to his below-par performances, and their ambitions of reaching Europe in the near future.
