The two presidents caught up at the final of the Supercopa de Espana in Jeddah, where Laporta thanked his Los Blancos counterpart for their support in the Olmo case. reported that unlike rivals Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, who opposed Olmo being re-registered, Madrid took a neutral stand on the issue as they consider their arch-rivals as a strategic ally.

Speaking at a press conference, the Barca president said: "I am not going to explain the conversation I had with Florentino and other presidents. Yes, I can tell you that I am grateful to the clubs that have not taken a position against our decision. It was an atmosphere of harmony with Florentino, knowing that we had everything more or less already arranged with the issue of registrations."

On Tuesday, Laporta announced that the club will be able to successfully re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, thereby killing an "apocalyptic narrative". He also slammed La Liga and the RFEF and accused them of trying to "destabilise" the club. Both Olmo and Victor were part of the matchday squad in the Spanish Super Cup final.
