Croatia international defender Tin Jedvaj scored twice – including a last-gasp winner – as his country picked up a vital 3-2 victory against Spain in their UEFA Nations League clash, and Liverpool should bring the 22-year-old to Anfield as a replacement for the outgoing Alberto Moreno.
What’s the word, then?
Well, according to Goal’s Neil Jones last month, the Spaniard will leave the Merseyside outfit when his contract expires at the end of the season, and Jurgen Klopp will surely need to bring in a replacement with no senior cover available for Andrew Robertson.
While the German manager could choose to place his faith in someone like youngster Adam Lewis, bringing in a more experienced body would be more sensible for a club that wants to challenge for Premier League titles and in Europe.
Jedvaj may well have caught the eye of a number of clubs with his latest display, showing his defensive nous as well as the threat he can have in the final third after scoring a header and being in the right place at the right time to tap home the decisive goal in injury-time.
Why should they sign Jedvaj?
Even though the Bayer Leverkusen man featured at left-back against the 2010 world champions on Thursday, he usually features at centre-back or right-back at club level.
The 22-year-old proved against Spain that he is able to do a job on the left-hand side as well though, and his ability to play there and anywhere across the backline would mean that he would be a decent addition.

Despite his contract with the Bundesliga club running until 2023 to prove he is highly-rated, Jedvaj has found first-team minutes hard to come by this term and has only made nine appearances in all competitions, although he has netted twice.
While he may not come on the cheap because of his long-term deal, he should still be well within Liverpool’s price range and would surely jump at the chance of a move to Anfield.
