Lewis Morgan caught the eye of the supporters on Wednesday night as he dazzled in Celtic’s 2-1 win over FK Sarajevo.
Celtic breezed through to the second round of the Champions League qualifiers after a 5-2 aggregate victory over Bosnian champions FK Sarajevo, as goals from Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor gave Neil Lennon’s side the win.
Morgan was handed a start, only his second for the club, but rewarded his manager and impressed the Celtic faithful. The 22-year-old was bright over the 90 minutes and “grabbed the chance to showcase himself”, with The Daily Record even saying he is “growing into the jersey”.
He dovetailed well with James Forrest on the other wing as the duo terrorised Sarajevo’s full-backs. The pair regularly switched positions and looked dangerous throughout the win.
Celtic were without Mikey Johnston as Morgan stepped up admirably in the youngster’s absence. Johnston was out having injured his quad in the away leg of the Sarajevo tie.
Lennon’s men will now face Nomme Kalju in the next round after the comfortable win against Sarajevo. The Estonian side surprised Macedonian champions Shkendija and progressed on away goals.
Here’s what the Celtic supporters had to say about Morgan’s encouraging display…
